Caring for your Jewelry
Amuze Jewelry uses a variety of precious metals, freshwater pearls, and gemstones within our Collections. Although it is long-lasting and durable, the jewelry can scratch and tarnish, if it is treated too harshly.
Jewelry worn on hands and wrists, such as rings and bracelets, are especially susceptible to this kind of damage. It is always wise to keep that in mind and take them off before activities that are potentially high impact.
Frequently used jewelry that is repeatedly exposed to dust, moisture, perspiration and makeup can eventually collect dirt and marks, and over time lose some of its radiant shine.
Like most Jewelry, sterling silver can be damaged by acids, abrasives and other harsh chemicals. So it is best to take off gold Jewelry before getting into a swimming pool or a hot tub. When using chlorine bleach, it is best to wear thick rubber gloves or remove your rings and bracelets altogether.
It is recommended that you store your Jewelry in the pouch and box provided at purchase to reduce the risk of damage and air pollution affecting its appearance. If you are purchasing a gift to be worn in the future or are planning to store it for long periods of time, we recommend that you store your Jewelry in a sealable, air-tight poly-bag with an anti-tarnish strip.
It’s best if gold Jewelry can be removed before taking a shower (this is because soap can cause a film to form on gold Jewelry making it appear dull and dingy).
Always store in a Jewelry box or wrap each piece in a soft cloth individually. This prevents the Jewelry from tangling or scratching each other.
Do not wear silver Jewelry when swimming as chlorine can permanently damage the Jewelry. Also, perfumes or lotions on the skin may cause tarnishing.
As with all the special things in life, take care of your Jewelry. Please follow our advice for the care of materials to ensure your Jewelry remains in the beautiful condition you receive it in.
